This is a UK-based informational website for one job: converting body weight between kilograms and stones and pounds, clearly and without fuss.

What this site does

It converts kilograms to stones and pounds, and stones and pounds back to kilograms, as you type. It also shows the decimal stone, total pounds, grams and an ounces breakdown, so the same answer works for a UK scale, a US form and a clinic record.

How the figures are calculated

Every result uses the exact constants: 1 stone = 14 pounds = 6.35029318 kg, and 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg. Figures are calculated at full precision and rounded only for display. The popular-conversions table on the homepage was rebuilt from those same constants, in the 50–120 kg range that normal adult weights fall in.

Why kg is the default direction

Most visitors arrive with a kilogram figure — from a clinic letter, a gym record or a scale — and want it in the stones and pounds they use in everyday conversation.

What this site is not

It is not a medical, fitness or dosing tool, and it does not store your weight. Conversions run in your browser; nothing you type is sent to a server by this converter. See the Disclaimer and Privacy Policy.
